About Sun Temple, Konark:

In the 13th century the Sun Temple Konark was built by King Langula Narasimhadev, which is situated at Konark, a medium town of the district of Puri in the state of Odisha, India. The other name of Konark Sun Temple is called the Black Pagoda. Konark is 65 kilometers from Odisha capital Bhubaneswar, 35 kilometers from Lord Jagannath Temple Puri, 17 kilometers from Maa Mangala Temple Kakatpur. It lies on the eastern coast of the Bay of Bengal. The total Sun Temple was built in black granite and an earth Heritage Site. The Temple is today in foundation and a collection of its cast is housed in the Sun Temple Museum Gallery, which is maintained by the survey of India. The Sun Temple having the form of a huge chariot peaked by seven energetic horses on twelve pairs of attractively decorated wheels. After the legendary seven horse wheels of God Sun and the temple was exclusive in its performance & architecture.
