Kakatpur Deuli Matha

Deuli Matha is situated near Kakatpur, it is a holi place on the river bank of Prachi 1km from Maa Mangala Temple, Kakatpur.

About Deuli Matha:

The “DEULI MATHA” is a very popular holy place of kakatpur. ‘NABAKALEBARA’  of lord “JAGANNATH” the devotee pray the goddess”MAA MANGALA” first & Maa direct them to go for DARU. The place is situated in the bank of river ‘PRACHI’. This place is 2-KM far from kakatpur and 1-KM far from Bajapur.

Historical Facts:-

It is known that this matha which is under the control of “EMAR MATHA”, Puri is directly involved with Nabakalebara rituals of the Deities. The Banajaga group which comes from Puri in search of Daru stay in this Deuli Matha. Maa Mangala first appeared in this matha. Deuli Matha is covered with natural scenes which looks very beautiful and peaceful. This Matha used to supply two trips of fire-wood for preparation of ‘Habisana’ for the Daitapatis during their stay at Deuli Matha. Even this matha is small but it has got an ancient status and tradition.  The God Patitapaban is being worshipped inside this Matha. After arrival of the Sevakas in Deuli Matha, news is sent to Mangala temple first. Then all Sevakas like Daitapatis, Pati Mohapatra, Lenkas, Deulakaran and Bramhins, etc. proceed to the Temple of Maa Mangala with garland, Mahaprasad and other puja materials in a colourful procession and after their arrival special rituals like Majana of Maa Mangala are observed. It may be mentioned here that this Majana´ Nitis of Maa Mangala are observed secretly. Outsiders are prohibited to enter the special Puja offering of Maa Mangala and even the entrance of outsiders to the inner sanctum of the temple is strictly prohibited. All Sevakas return again to the Deuli Matha after observing all the Nities of Maa Mangala. They stay there up to the identification of the Darus of Lords. All Sevakas take the sacred Rice (Habisanna) which is prepared in this Matha premises every day. Now a days a canal is flowing beside Deuli Matha. It is ascertained that the Commissioner of Endowments has recently given instruction to the Emar Matha, Puri to take proper care and necessary repair of this ancient structure to save pride, culture and tradition of Odisha.
