About Maa Ukulei Temple:
The Temple of the goddess Maa Ukulei situated on the right bank of the River Devi near to Astaranga Kakatpur road. It stands at the village Ukulei, P.S Astaranga, in the district of Puri. The Sakti Temple Maa Ukulei is very old. The presiding deity of this temple is a piece of stone covered with vermilion. Every Thrusday thousand of people gathered here, to recover from all kinds of fever with the blessings of the goddess Maa Ukulei. Maa Ukulei is the mahaskti, the mode and crude , is the main cause of creation, conservation and destruction . Maa Ukulei is famous for Shakti, having manifested herself in between the Gods, so that she gives her blessings for us.
Festivals of Maa Ukulei temple:
The famous festival in the Temple is the birthday of Maa Ukulei, which observed in the month of Magha (February) of every year. On that festival devotee collect revered water from river Devi in the earthen pot, filled with water and pray the Maa to get her blessings. The devotees are able to walk with fasting for the whole day. Due to the devotees confidence on Maa Ukulei’s blessings on them, they are not feeling weak while staying such a traditional custom. Every year Lakh’s of believers come to Ukulei, Astarang to celebrate the Birthday of Maa Ukulei.
There are several temples, devoted to Maa Ukulei around the temple. Some temples include the Nagas(snake) Temple, every Thrusday all Nagas(snake) came outside of the temple and drank cups of milk from the Preist hand. Its real thing and very interesting for devotees see all these unimaginable things.
